Cordele —
Calls to investigate two separate disturbances on Tuesday resulted in a pair of probation violation arrests.
Lt, Marvin Milner said that while responding to an altercation in the 200 block of 24th Ave. W. he learned a subject present at the time — Eddie Leroy McGriff — was wanted for that offense. McGriff, 35, was thus taken into custody.
Cpl. Kristan Herrick said that while checking out a disturbance at the Suwanee House Apartments he realized a man on the scene was named on a warrant issued through the city. That subject, Brandon Craig Dooley, 31, was promptly arrested.
In other activity on a relatively quiet Tuesday, officers:
— Received a terroristic threats and acts complaint.
A local resident told Ptl. Rosa Brown that members of a local gang became angry with him when he asked a group of people to leave his residence on Monday night. He said the offenders have been threatening to attack him on sight.
— Cited an 18-year-old woman for theft by shoplifting.
Ptl. Billy Caton said a loss prevention officer at Walmart detained Meagan Martin, of 410 Sixth Ave. E., until he arrived on the scene to take her into custody. The report did not indicate what she had been allegedly caught trying to steal.
— Said a local woman reported the theft of her vehicle’s tag.
The victim, who resides in the 300 block of 17th Ave. E., told Sgt. Charles Dennard the license plate on her 1995 Ford Ranger was stolen sometime between 9:30 a.m.-10 p.m. from either her home or her place of employment in Tifton.
— Responded to a vehicle damage complaint.
A resident of the 400 block of 22nd Ave. W. told Cpl. Kristan Herrick scratches were made overnight Monday on the trunk and both left doors of his vehicle.
Spent bottle rockets located on and beside the vehicle apparently caused the damage.
