Youth reports assault

CORDELE — Police Officer Bruce Gourley was called to the hospital emergency room Wednesday afternoon where the mother of a juvenile reported that her son had been assaulted.

The youth said he was walking with a few friends on E. 11th Ave. when a group of 15 to 20 adults jumped him. He said they had sticks and parts of bed frames.

In the alleged attack, the youth suffered a laceration on his left forearm and scrapes on his left wrist. He also said he was struck in the face with a brick. X-rays revealed that bones in his face were fractured.

Photos were taken, and the investigation is continuing.
