CORDELE — JoLane Weeks and Michelle Welliver of the Old Grey Bonnets non-profit organization have sent a letter of gratitude to the Cordele community.
“We appreciate the wonderful support we received during our fundraising, to ensure the soldiers got home for their 4-day break,” Weeks said.
Members of the local area 48th Brigade are now in Afghanistan and are doing well according to their communication with their families.
CPT Samuel T. Weeks, commander of C Company says, "The soldiers here miss their families, that much is evident, but we are all ready to move forward and get our mission done so we can come back home to those we love.
“C Company will be thinking of you all and thanking you for all the help and prayers that you have given us."
Ms. Weeks says, “It has been quite a transition for the families back home to become adjusted to this new way of life. It took a little while for the shock to wear off and a little more time to find our way back into some sort of routine, but I think for the most part every one is doing well.
“We have a strong support network within our National Guard family and are holding together as a team here at home.”
She adds, “we are ever so grateful to have reached our goal and were amazed at the outpouring of love and support we received from the community of Cordele.
“We would like to send out our heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed and purchased cookbooks from us. We will be making another cookbook to raise funds to send our soldiers care packages for the holidays.
“The new book will include holiday recipes only, and we expect to have those ready by September.The cost will be $20.”
