  • Lake Blackshear will be lowered

CORDELE — The Crisp County Power Commission will be lowering Lake Blackshear this fall as it does every other year.
The lake will be drawn down approximately 3 1/2 feet below normal on a gradual basis starting the first week in November (Nov. 1st) . It will remain down through the 15th of December.
The purpose of the drawdown is to allow lake property owners a chance to repair existing structures. Also, the drawdown should slow some of the aquatic plant growth in the lake.
Anyone wishing to construct new structures, including seawalls, or make substantial repairs to their existing structures are advised to contact Marcus Waters, resource manager, to determine the necessity of  any needed permits from the Crisp County Power Commission and/or other state and federal agencies.
