PITTS — The North America Rail Car Owners Association Festival will gear up for its fourth year in historical downtown Pitts as a large number of citizens and visitors will hope to comb through the area enjoying live entertainment and food Friday and Saturday, April 11-12.
The musical sounds of the Gospel Echoes, the Saggy Bottom Band and Alex Clements and Scott King are sure to waft through downtown to entertain guests.
The Pitts Downtown Development Authority will once again host the event with a day full of activities for both young and old alike.
According to Delano Braziel of Pitts DDA, the NARCOA owners will begin arriving in downtown Pitts next Thursday and will set up camp or park thier motor homes along the railroad tracks in preparation for Friday and Saturday’s excursions. In celebration of their presence, the town of Pitts has implemented the festival in their honor.
Braziel said from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. next Saturday, different activities will be going on including local entertainment, food, arts and crafts, and various artists displaying their crafts.
In addition, several recently restored stores in the downtown district will be open Friday starting at 2 p.m. for festival-goers to browse through. Live entertainment will begin at 5 p.m.
While at the festival Saturday, Braziel said to be sure and experience when the railcar enthusiasts depart downtown at 8 a.m. and head for the town of Alamo for lunch.
They will return at 4:30 p.m. Breakfast will be served for railcar owners at 6:45 a.m. before they depart.
A drawing for a gas grill will be held Saturday at 3 p.m.
Admission to the festival is free and open to the public. Call (229) 322-5835 or (229) 648-6150 for ticket information.

Implausible chickrabs
You will not believe it! Shoot, I wouldn’t believe it myself had I not observed the sight with my own eyes.
Yesterday was hot. I mean really hot with the humidity high and the temperature within a couple of degrees of 100 even after 8 p.m. when I began my daily run through the woods and fields of the backside. - Support projects
